Relentless Melts – Blueberry Joe

Genetics: Indiana Bubblegum x Face-Off OG

Bag Appeal: Relentless’s Blueberry Joe is wildly dense. The massive nugs are stacked with protruding bracts. Neatly trimmed, Blueberry Joe is caked in a fine resin smothered in sinewy carrot-colored pistils. The calyxes are bright green and fade to a pastel violet.

Aroma: Blueberry Joe opens with a rich citric-acid punch that reminds me of a Blue Warhead. As the batch cured, the aroma has gotten dramatically more sour – with a fragrant mixed-berry quality that lingers in the background. Not particularly gassy, Blueberry Joe smells like fruity balsamic mixed with pomegranate molasses.

Flavor: Dark and sugary at once, Blueberry Joe is unlike anything I’ve previously tasted. The bubblegum imparts a cloying cotton-candy flavor that instantly stains the palate. As the profile opens up, a very sharp fuel quality comes through that reminds me more of a Hindu Kush than the various Face-Off OG crosses I adore. As the resin builds, the smoke gets increasingly tart, but the blue raspberry candy taste takes a back seat to an acrid gas. Heavy and fuzzy at once, Blueberry Joe is deeply relaxing and beautifully calming.
