Relentless Melts – Poontang Pie

Genetics: (Trop Cookies x Grape Pie) x Papaya

Bag Appeal: Chunky and dense, Poontang Pie from Relentless Melts is smothered in a glistening resin. The bulbous bracts are stacked tightly and range from a kelly green to platinum frost. The fairly large nugs are beautifully dried and break down into an ideal sticky consistency. Each bud is covered in swaths of bronze pistils and is astounding from every angle.

Aroma: Poontang Pie smells more like a room temperature glass of Sunny-D than it does flower. The cloying orange note is hard to miss and is as tangy as it is loud. The backend of the aroma has a peculiar sharpness that is evocative of Welch’s White Grape Juice, which is something I last tasted over 20 years ago.

Flavor: When its terps are firing on all cylinders, Poontang Pie tastes like the love-child of mango sticky rice and a marmalade covered scone. A sour tangerine note comes through that offers some needed brightness to the vigorously sweet flavor. While I don’t taste a ton of Grape Pie or Papaya in this selection, it does have a yeasted smoothness that offers complexity to the Trop-forward taste. Properly strong, this Poontang Pie is stoney and almost lazy, which is unexpected from this terp profile. Near the end of the joint, the smoke does get fairly hot, but the combustion is clean and even throughout.
